Reincarnation - The Circle of Life

 Buddhism, Hinduism, and various Eastern philosophies incorporate reincarnation in their beliefs. What exactly is reincarnation? We are reborn again and again for the sole purpose of soul development and spiritual growth. Some believe our next life depends on the moral quality of the previous life's actions. After we die, we may go through a life review or a period of reflection. Many believe that we are still learning after our death. We select our next life based on the life lessons we want to experience, and we select the family and circumstances we are born into. We travel in soul groups and are reborn with various souls that we have known before. The cycles of rebirth are governed by “karma”. Some say if we inflict pain on others, we must experience pain. If we love unconditionally, we will experience unconditional love. Every person who enters our life is either here to teach us or to learn from us, no matter how short or long that relationship may last. We reflect our own experience like a mirror through those around us. Although karma sounds like “tit for tat”, I personally believe that forgiveness and love are always available to us and we can transcend karma. We create our own karma and punish ourselves. The Universal force/God has no judgement but loves us unconditionally. 

There are some who say that reincarnation exists in the Christian faith and the bible They contend that much of the original texts from the New Testament were either altered or removed to suppress the thinking and to control the general population. There are passages that many feel reference rebirth and reincarnation, but this is subject to interpretation.

Was John the Baptist Elijah reincarnated? How did John the Baptist recognize that Jesus was the prophet? Most Christians do not support the idea of reincarnation, but a growing number do.

The Akashic records are said to be a collection of all human knowledge, all events, thoughts, knowledge and ideas that have ever existed. They are like a giant library of information. Edgar Casey, the famous clairvoyant and modern-day metaphysical teacher, referred to the Akashic Records as “God’s Book of Remembrance”. Madame Blavatsky referred to the records as “tablets of astral light”. Often, multiple inventors, songwriters, etc. may have the same inspiration at almost the same time because they are accessing the Akashic Records. The Akashic records are considered a book that contains the entire history of your soul, as well as every aspect of who you are now and all the potentials of your future. Every soul, although we may have a life plan before being born, is gifted with free will.

Of particular interest to me are the accounts of children who remember past lives. Some of the leading research in this area was pioneered by Dr. Ian Stevenson, a psychiatrist at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr Stevenson spent much of his career collecting and examining such cases. Jim Tucker has also worked at the University Virginia for over 20 years.

Children usually begin discussing their past lives between ages 2 and 4, often describing events leading to their death as if those lives are ongoing. In many cases, Stevenson was able to identify the person the child claimed to be and to verify the information by speaking to relatives of the deceased.

Although many of his cases involved children from countries that have strong beliefs in reincarnation, there have also been a number in the West, where family members are surprised and don’t know how to react.

Research has shown that normally the children’s reported previous lives ended prematurely and unnaturally, often involving violence, suicide, or an accident.
